Galentine’s Day!!!💕

“It's one of those things that has just embedded itself in popular culture, and it actually goes back to the Feb. 11, 2010, episode of "Parks and Rec" where Leslie Nope, Amy Poehler's character, is introducing Galentine's Day. It's this wonderful day where, you know, women celebrate women. They go out to brunch.” -from the Internet

I didn’t learn about this until 2021…11 years later!!! I almost lost my mind!!!

Friendships have been a part of my life since I was a toddler!!!

Two factors:

1) My Mom (Rose) always had girlfriends. Her main crew was her two sisters, Aunt Laura and Aunt Johnnie and her sister-in-law, Aunt Mae. But she had so many other Besties from the neighborhood, church, community and other relatives from out of town and state.

I loved hanging out with them, listening to their stories, gossip, laughter and soaking up their love for each other.

2) I am an only child and playing was my favorite thing (not different from now). We lived in a neighborhood full of kids my age and we played outside from whenever I woke up until dinner time every evening.

Even after we moved to another neighborhood, those kids became my Besties. I had Besties at church, at school, in my grandparent's and Aunt’s neighborhoods…everywhere I went my friends became like family.

Nothing changed throughout my Single Life, Married Life, Mom Life, Small Business Life…People who I love, adore and do life with to this day!!!

So to have a special day carved out to celebrate Friendships just tore me up!!!

I owned Vintage 615 (store in Spring Hill) when I found out about this Most Special Day and declared we would have an event with snacks, photo ops, hugs, loudness and of course Mimosas to celebrate this Best Day of the Year!!!

If you know me, you know that I always call my friends in to help me with my Capers and Adventures! (some things never change…it’s more FUN with friends!!!)

My beloved friend and mentor, George Bobier, who brought me into the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce and quickly into the Ambassador program took me under his wing, taught me so much and treated me like a daughter…and he just so happened to be a bartender on the side.

So…I called George, told him my plan, asked him how to make Mimosas and how much did I need for my event.

Not only did he talk me through it, but he also took it on, picked up everything I needed, set it up and stopped by twice to make sure I was ok during the event!!!

He then declared that he would be doing all my events and gave me a lot of his supplies.

That was our only event together because George passed from COVID a few weeks later.

My heart is still broken. I can’t even write this without tears. So I always think of George Bobier, My Chamber Papa on Galentine’s Day.

All of this is to say…I am thrilled to have a day to celebrate friendships.

When it was time to rebrand-rename Vintage 615…My first and only thought was about my Mom and about friendships…Hence the name Sweet Maggie Rose.

Named after my Mom, Rose and her girlfriend, Maggie.

Their names flowed for a cute boutique name, but someone in South Carolina already had a boutique with that name and Chris (hubby) suggested adding the adjective “Sweet.”

“Sweet” just happens to be one of my favorite words and things. I love Sweet!

I am so in awe and amazed how God gives us the desires of our hearts and for me to launch our new Sweet Maggie Rose Website on Galentine’s Day is beyond a Bucket List Dream.

And Yes…a whole bunch of my girlfriends were with me in-store and Facebook Live to Celebrate the Galentine’s Day and the launch of our Sweet Maggie Rose website!!

Thank you for your Friendships!!!

Happy Galentine’s Day 2024!!!💕🌹
